In the 1980’s, Cambridge had experienced an influx of companies primarily in the tech industry. Companies like Lotus began popping up and then were followed soon after by biotech firms including Genzyme, Biogen and Novartis. Situated on the north side of the Charles River, Cambridge is also home to some of the most prestigious schools including Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology making Cambridge well known around the world.
